Woodland Birds at Miller's Wood Sussex

For my recent 60th birthday present I was bought a day at Miller's Wood in Sussex. It was a great day and shared it with my son who is a good photographer in his own right. We captured a nice variety of birds and I used my Panasonic Lumix DMC G9 and the new 100-400 which is a wonderful lens. Hope you like my shots

Bird Photography with the Panasonic Lumix DMC G9

As I said in an earlier blog post I have sold my Fuji X100V and with the process from the funds I have purchased a Lumix G9 and 100-300 lens for birding photography. Below are samples of my first attempts at bird photography, i had plenty of misses as I am not used to the focusing system etc. Below are today's and yesterday's attempted shots. Overall I am pretty pleased with the equipment and my efforts.

Out with the pixel 6

Today we made our first venture with the pixel 6.  It's an amazing camera within a phone. I think these days it's amazing.  I took a photograph of Indi and whilst it's not a masterpiece, it's a very good example of what this phone can do. In fact, with the new machine learning, I was able to type this blog while speaking to the phone! So whilst it won't perhaps replace a really good camera, I think these days it seems to be that the camera technology within Google systems has improved no end. So I hope you like the photograph below.

The Lumix is going back

So today I decided that I would send back my Lumix to MPB. It's really sad I didn't enjoy using the camera but it just isn't good enough in low light, I think it was because the centre is cropped and due to the size of the lens across the sensor . I am sad to send it back but it's going to be I feel better so you use a good smartphone so I'm looking now at the pixel 6 and hopefully I can trade this one in and get a pixel 6 . The quality for the pixel 6 seems to be good enough for what I need I think now that I might not even carry the camera around and I'm going to use my other Lumix for just bird photography . So let's see how we go I will keep you posted on here so hope you read this blog today and see how we get on!

Out with Lumix LX100

The venerable Lumix LX100 was my weapon of choice on today's walk. It has a smaller M4/3 sensor at 12mp but a superb Leica branded f1.7 to f2.8 zoom lens built in. The colour science by Panasonic with this lens is very nice how it renders the scene. I am going back in time with cameras these days. This was a used model in perfect condition and only £315 so a very good value image making device. So below are some images from it.
