Out for a walk yesterday in the sunshine

I took the Panasonic Lumix G9 and 100-400 on a bird photography expedition yesterday, of course the birds didn't play ball and so I decided just to do a little bit of photography. I spotted a red admiral butterfly sunning itself and flitting around the apple blossom tree. I managed a shot of it, the close focus of the large zoom lens is actually quite good. It makes it a nice close up  One funny thing is I tried to take a shot of a small bird and the camera didn't seem to make any noise and I couldn't hear the shutter or focus etc. So I removed the battery and re booted the camera no success? I became a tad frustrated as I couldn't use the camera meaningfully so what should one do in a situation like this? Refer to YouTube of course! It was a small two position switch on the front of the G9 was in the 'silent' setting  - doh! Anyway here are today's blog shots

It arrived today so of course photos!

The XF10 has been discussed on here many times and it's a great little camera

I am getting another Fujifilm XF10!

Happy days another used Fuji XF10 has been sourced from a good friend of mine. Thanks again Lisa 🙂 I decided to invest in another after looking through my Lightroom photos and saw how many fine images it provides. My program showed that I used it for over 2700 shots and that made me think we'll why not? I plan to use it alongside my original Fujifilm Finepix X100 but the XF10 is going to be used for stock photography too. Yes it really is good enough for that. So dear reader wait for the next installment on here and many photos to come too, a mixture of my bird photography and Fuji every day images. The below images from my previous copy actually went me some money from stock photography!

Beautiful blue sky birds

Today's photography with the G9 captured some wonderful birds in their natural habitat. I am planning to go to a location soon where red kites frequently visit, I aim to nail a photograph of one in flight. Tricky to get! I hope you like today's work.

Local bird photography

Out yesterday doing what I love most. Watching birds and attempted photography of them. I used a feature called 6K photo on the Lumix G9 and this develops a small 6K video that you select your best photos from. A really well thought out idea! The images are jpeg of around 18mp size the results below speak for themselves

The Lumix DMC G9 does action!

The Lumix G9 has a feature called 6K photo, it shoots a small burst of 30 frames a second into a mini video. On the camera you view this to select the ones that you would like to export. It also has a wonderful feature called " pre burst mode" the camera actually records pre one second burst  before you have even pressed the shutter! The shot of Indi used this feature.

The little workhorse from 2013

The original X100 I used this little masterpiece during wedding photography and portait images during 2013 and before at many events . It wasnt of course perfect and took a while to learn its usage in a pressurised environment. It never let me down and produced images that punched well above its weight. Below are some images from a simple portait and a wedding i used it at. Simply amazing how the images turned out i was professionally shooting with a Canon 5D and this almost matched and sometimes surpassed it!
