All change for MK1 Photography

It's been a long decision making process but i feel that now its final.... Now i have invested in an Olympus camera for all my photography. I chose this system because it offers the most in features and performance of i think most manufacturers. I chose them due to their low weight and excellent lenses they offer a pro level service with repairs and cleaning too. The sharpness of the camera I have chosen is remarkable it is an Olympus OMD 1 Mkiii and has 6 stops of image stabilisation which helps me a great deal. Lens wise I will be buying their 12 -45 f/4.0 pro lens and the amazing 60mm f/2 .8 macro lens for a new venture of macro photography. I hope to post some images on here soon Mark

Finepix X100 jpeg action

Today I tried out the Finepix X100 in jpeg mode to see if it renders a good image  Indi was in her dog cage/bed and just had to be photographed! I quite like the files from this little old camera more now than ever before, there's a certain depth and softness that really gives the image character. For those that are interested the exposure was 1/30 sec f/4.0 ISO 3200 the camera was supported on a manfrotto pixie tripod. Below is an image from yesterday this was lit with flash from the camera and it really gives beautiful RAW files from this camera are really adaptable and easily edited. The exposure was 1/1000 sec f/2.8 ISO 400 obviously as I have previously discussed the leaf shutter allows high shutter syncing

The Fujifilm Finepix X100 and off camera flash

To me the best form of flash off camera really needs not to show that flash has actually been used.  The photographs of Indi below were lit with the Lightpix tiny little flash I have featured on this blog before. As we had high ISO and of course the leaf shutter then not much power is required. They turned out very nice

Samsung S22 Ultra does photography well!

I captured this little butterfly tonight as it took a breather on the washing line prop in our garden. It didn't move as I approached it with my camera so I was very lucky to capture it. I used my phone to capture the image it's a Samsung S22 Ultra and has an amazing 108mp pixel binned file, this image was 20mb so quite large! The phone has three camera systems and these following images show the variation you can get. Its simply amazing what these modern smartphones can do apparently on YouTube many participants have printed files from this phone up to A0 size which is mad! I read somewhere that the sales of cameras well compact cameras is actually down 22% year on year. The XF10 doesn't seem to be getting much of a look in these days as I have been very impressed by this S22 Ultra. One note to oneself try to use the camera in landscape orientation as then they won't appear so phone like. Hope you enjoy my photography even though it's a phone.........

More bird photography and other work

We have feeders like many have in our garden, we have a family of Blue Tits in the local area that are feeding their young. The parents have been so busy back and forth they dont seem to have time to look after their appearance. Also a juvenile Robin landed on my garden fence so i grabbed a shot! The bee was taken with the G9 and 100-400 Leica panasonic lens. The dendelion (Taraxacum) was taken on the beautiful Finepix X100 The daisy and sky shot was with the Google Pixel 6!

The Finepix X100 goes forth

Today's camera of choice is the venerable and quite wonderful Finepix X100 original. As discussed in earlier blog posts I have gravitated back to this little wonder recently, today it came out with Indi on our stroll and here are some images from it. The last shot is from my Google Pixel 6 and actually edited that image to tone it down a bit

Olympus 9mm Body Cap Lens

I picked up a used verion of this ultra cheap ultra wide lens on Ebay. Only £70 delivered already i can see some creative uses for it. Its a fixed appature lens at f8 so not much use for low light and its all manual focus, it uses a small lever on the front to focus. So far i have had a play with it and the Pansonic G9 its mounted on works well with it. It offers an exellent focus peaking system that shows blue highlights when in focus, obviously at f8 most of the scene is! The photograph of Indi below shows how good the lens is and its extreme wide angle of view, she looks a bit fed up too
