Peaceful Boxing Day

A simple short stroll....

We decided on a simple short stroll today so the V came too and we concentrated on the near and not the far. The sky was that featureless milky grey colour - not much you can do with that, it does however create a flat light within the woods. I basically kept looking around at the vibrancy of the moss green colour against the old and decaying leaves of this summer that seems so far back.

Fuji X100V Daily Photos

Fuji X100V Daily So I decided to build a blog about daily photos with my beautiful Fuji X100V I have been a Fuji X photographer for over 10 years and especially the X100. The fixed lens really helps with creativity This image was shot underneath my car port The top light really helped with the shadows I have found walking out and about with my camera a mindful experience, it helps you balance with nature and slow down in this difficult world. The leaves above seem to show sadness at the change of the seasons resting peacefully on a fallen tree Exposure wise for those that are photographers 1/30 sec shutter speed f 3.6 ISO 500, it’s easy to handhold the X100V for a shot like this. I suppose some would ask why not use a phone for these shots? I understand this but being a photographer you need to use a camera!

Macro photography

So this is a new passion for me - macro photography. The Olympus OMD EM1 MK3 has a great macro set up with the 60mm f2.8 macro lens. I also acquired a great flash diffuser to use with my Pixapro 350 flash. Off camera flash technique

A tutorial on OCF(off camera flash) So today as its raining i thought it would be a good idea to offer those with any X100 series of camera a tutorial on the cameras ability with this technique. Firstly we need to consider why to bother with OCF at all? Why not use the built in flash? Why not put a small flash directly onto the camera hot shoe? The answer is simple really : The light that comes straight in line from the camera gives the least flattering light and direct flash is harsh in its output. So how do i go off camera?: The method to get the flash off camera and at another location is again very simple, you need a flash gun and a trigger.
