Only one type of photo today

The very first bluebells  These are the first bluebells in our woods many photos of more to come, our woods will be full of them soon. Photos with the F10 today

The V is getting jealous....

I am sure the V is getting jealous of the attention the new kid on the block is getting.... I have left the poor old V back at HQ as the 10F demands my attention to put it through the paces, I am sure full V photography will be on here again soon. It’s very strange how a cheap little photography device like this can achieve very good high quality images. It actually comes very close to what the V can do, and that is a real achievement! I start today’s blog with a video of the beautiful sounds of the woodlands I walk in and then some photos Hope you enjoy dear reader. Turn up your sound and listen

More nature close ups

More XF10 close ups and another tip...... The XF10 is a highly adaptable small carry everywhere camera and as I mentioned yesterday it has a reasonable close focus capability that can reveal some nice shots. As I mentioned yesterday contrast detection autofocus can sometimes be fooled by leaves and backgrounds that are ‘busy’. Another tip I can offer is that you should change is the type of focus it carries out. If you go into the menu to option one “AF/MF setting” then down to “Focus mode” then down to “Single AF” this will only use the green focus box you aim in. The camera is set to default to a wider continuous AF and zone and this does not allow for easy focusing. I have done some phone photos to show the menu changes too Hope the above helps new users once again and below are some more photos

Close up with the 10F

Close up with the 10F actually very useful.... You can get close with the Fuji XF10 and do some nice flower shots as per below. For those of you that own this camera or are thinking about getting it, the focus system relies on contrast to detect an edge etc. When I was in the woods taking the photo of some of the flowers obviously the light levels were pretty low, so hence the contrast would be too and it struggled a little.  One trick I learnt from the days of film with manual focus was to put the palm of my hand near or right behind the subject - this works wonders with the little XF10. It gives the focus something to ‘bite’ onto and therefore then you can refocus and the camera is nearly the perfect position and won’t mis focus. Remember contrast detection needs an edge or change in contrast in the scene to focus - this isn’t a fault with the camera.

Out with the 10F today

Spring is showing it’s life Walking in my woodland today I noticed how nature is slowly showing it’s spring colours. Leaves are beginning to unfurl and new buds are appearing on many trees and shrubs. All shot on the little XF10 today, I am getting better with it and although a flip out screen could be handy it hasn’t cost me many shots. It’s amazing how Fuji have packed so much technology into such a tiny frame.

April 5th such a contrast to yesterday

Out with Indi on a short walk..... Indi had a major day yesterday as we had the family round for Easter Sunday lunch it was lovely to see them again, also glad it wasn’t today’s weather! All photos the XF10 I am getting to grips with this little beauty now, it captured some great family photos yesterday. I have added the photo from yesterday with my little granddaughter doing the egg and spoon race down our garden

Very cold OCF

Indi the worlds most photographed GSD We decided to go on a slightly longer circuit but the wind was blowing from the east and a decidedly cold blast met us outside. I did a bit of OCF using the little Q flash unit I have, Indi was more interested in what was going on elsewhere. The flash shots where at 1/500 sec at F2 ISO was 80 and shooting in RAW gave us nice adjustment to bring the sky in too. The beauty of the leaf shutter allows for  easy sync between ambient and subject, it was a photo from an Australian blogger that I saw the fantastic shots he got with the Original X100, that was back in 2011 when I first got my Fujifilm X100 and I still have it tucked away upstairs
