Fujifilm Finepix X100

So today's post is really a slight chance to air my views on this beautiful little camera the X100 from 2011

The Fujifilm X100 camera series, including the original model, was special for several reasons:

1. **Retro Design:** The X100 had a distinct, retro-inspired design that harked back to classic film cameras. This design not only appealed to enthusiasts but also set it apart from other digital cameras on the market.

2. **Hybrid Viewfinder:** One of the most unique features was its hybrid viewfinder, which could switch between optical and electronic modes. The optical viewfinder offered a real-time, through-the-lens view, while the electronic viewfinder provided additional information and framing assistance.

3. **Large Sensor:** Equipped with an APS-C-sized sensor, the X100 delivered high image quality with good low-light performance and dynamic range. This was a notable feature considering the camera's compact size.

4. **Fast Prime Lens:** The fixed 23mm f/2 lens (35mm equivalent) offered a versatile field of view, making it great for street, documentary, and everyday photography. The fast aperture allowed for pleasing background blur and better low-light performance.

5. **Manual Controls:** The camera's manual controls, including physical dials for shutter speed, aperture, and exposure compensation, catered to photographers who enjoyed a more tactile shooting experience.

6. **Image Quality and Color:** Fujifilm is known for its excellent color science, and the X100 was no exception. The camera's JPEG processing and film simulation modes provided distinct color profiles that users appreciated.

7. **Build Quality:** The X100 had a solid build with a metal body, giving it a premium feel and durability.

8. **Revival of Interest:** The X100 series played a significant role in rekindling interest in compact, fixed-lens cameras. It contributed to the popularity of the mirrorless camera trend and influenced other manufacturers to release similar products.

9. **Cult Following:** The X100 developed a dedicated fanbase of photographers who appreciated its unique features and capabilities.

Overall, the Fujifilm X100 was special because it combined modern technology with classic design elements, resulting in a camera that appealed to both enthusiasts and professionals looking for a compact and capable tool for creative photography.

Fuji X100V Daily Photos

Fuji X100V Daily So I decided to build a blog about daily photos with my beautiful Fuji X100V I have been a Fuji X photographer for over 10 years and especially the X100. The fixed lens really helps with creativity This image was shot underneath my car port The top light really helped with the shadows I have found walking out and about with my camera a mindful experience, it helps you balance with nature and slow down in this difficult world. The leaves above seem to show sadness at the change of the seasons resting peacefully on a fallen tree  Exposure wise for those that are photographers 1/30 sec shutter speed f 3.6 ISO 500, it’s easy to handhold the X100V for a shot like this. I suppose some would ask why not use a phone for these shots? I understand this but being a photographer you need to use a camera!

Down to the park

Back to Hughenden park... A little picture heavy today but the sun was out and Hughenden park looked fabulous  Indi loves being out down there her tail was wagging quite a lot  It was a bit of struggle to get Indi into my car which is a Toyota IQ a great small runabout but not ideal GSD transport!

My bird and wildlife camera

I have kept with Olympus and now have an E-M1X an absolute beast in the M4:3 world. It came out in 2019 and was sold for a number of years, it been superceded by the OM1 Mkii but I still believe this is the king of the genre. Of course it's very large in this sensor world but very small compared to the likes of Canon or Nikon with a battery grip built in. I shoot macro and wildlife and of course my family. This camera performed so well in all these types of photography, below are firstly my latest examples of bird photography at which the cameras built in AI tracked the heron.
